The devil is in the details, so basic principles don’t help much until we study individual circumstances with care. It depends on the location of the cancer, the degree of abnormality of the rogue cells and whether the tumour can interfere with an essential body function either just by being there or in some more subtle way like producing hormones at the wrong time and in the wrong amounts. To answer the question in a particular case is not something you can learn from a website and must be left to skilled doctors with ample resources. There are cancers which are easily and completely treatable, others which will never bother the patient during his or her lifetime, plus on rare occasions, cancers that are predicted to advance quickly but in fact do so slowly or not at all. Therefore, the word ‘cancer’ by itself is not important. It depends on the details. One important point. A reliable diagnosis of ‘cancer’ requires microscope examination of the rogue cells by a professional. Anything else is clinical judgment or guesswork, and is reasonable only in straightforward cases. A common feature of quack treatment centres is to pretend that the patient has cancer and then to claim a cure when in fact nothing has happened at all. You must get detailed professional advice on your own individual case and circumstances.
